CORR Insights: Risk of thromboembolism in shoulder arthroplasty: Effect of implant type and traumatic indication

Patients undergoing total shoulder replacement, like any joint replacement, are at risk for deep venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. Fortunately, these events are very rare. It is questionable whether patients should receive anti-coagulation after these operations because of the risks associated.
