Joe Mayer, Physician Assistant
Joe was born and raised in Queens, New York and graduated from Queens College with his Bachelor of Science in Fitness, Nutrition & Exercise Science. During college, he competed on the Cross Country, Track & Field team. After graduation, he worked as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in Brooklyn for two years. He subsequently attended Johnson & Wales University and graduated with a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. Prior to starting his position with Dr. Marx, Joe worked at HSS as part of the overnight Physician Assistant team caring for post-operative patients in the Hospital.
Sarah Bunnell, Practice Manager
Sarah was born and raised in Pennsylvania and obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Biobehavior and Health from Pennsylvania State University. Shortly after graduation Sarah made her way to New York City to work in healthcare administration. She was previously our Surgical Coordinator and now oversees all areas of the practice.
Chiffon Roberts, Assistant Practice Manager
Chiffon was born and raised in New York City. She received her education at City-as-School in Lower Manhattan and has certifications in Medical Billing and Coding and Medical Administration from the National Healthcare Association (NHA). She has previously worked in radiology, dermatology and gastroenterology practices in New York. Chiffon is our assistant practice manager and surgical coordinator, overseeing the practice and organizing all aspects of pre- and post-operative care.
Cristina Lopez, Medical Secretary
Cristina was born in Manhattan and raised in Queens, New York. She earned her Master of Science in Health Administration from Fordham University. Before joining Dr. Marx’s team, she worked in a large colorectal surgery department, in both surgical operations and patient coordination.
Sara Covin, Research Assistant
Sara Covin is from San Francisco, California. She graduated from Princeton University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with a minor in Cognitive Science. During college, she won four Ivy League Championships on the Women's Rowing Team. She also conducted COVID-19 Research and Pediatric Osteosarcoma Research. Sara assists with Dr. Marx's research and academic work.
