In this study, we looked at the success of repairing a torn meniscus during a repeat (revision) ACL surgery. After following patients for six years, we found an overall success rate of 87%, with only a 13% failure rate requiring further surgery. Interestingly, lateral meniscus repairs were highly successful with only a 5.7% failure rate, while medial repairs had a significantly higher failure rate of 20.6%. These results are very encouraging for patients, showing that even during a complex second ACL surgery, the meniscus can often be saved to protect the joint for the long haul.
